Rendezvous Youth Group
- Location: Kampala -Uganda.
- Mission: To create opportunities for youth to be self-reliant through skills, training, and talent development
- What they do: Rendezvous Youth Group is a refugee-led organization based in Kampala – Uganda. It is composed of forced migrants from different nations of East-central Africa who have the vision to empower young people to be responsible and self-reliant. This is done through different activities: advocacy, training, Edutainment (MDD), Facilitated film screening, and others. – In advocacy: We amplify the voices of refugees (especially youths) speaking out about their issues so that they can be heard by duty bearers and other people concerned. We do this through video docs, pictures, and podcasts posted online. Training: Occasionally with partnerships from other like-minded organizations, we prepare the training to build the capacity of different refugee youths. Music, Dance, and Drama (MDD): We use this to help refugees who are still in process of rehabilitation or healing the wounds of their past affecting their mental wellbeing. Fortunately, this has also helped some of the youths to start earning a living through this talent development activity. Facilitated Film Screening: This is an activity where we use a film as a tool for social change. We go to different communities to screen an educative film with a similar issue which is in that community, to raise an objective discussion that will permit community members to draw the solutions themselves.
